About HKTEA

To further emphasise the importance of high-quality teaching and enhance the impact of the UGC Teaching Award, the UGC initiated the Hong Kong Teaching Excellence Alliance (HKTEA) in 2019 and provides regular funding to support its operation. The HKTEA cultivates a network enabling UGC Teaching Award Fellows to collectively play a sustained role in promoting teaching excellence in and beyond the UGC sector.

The objective of HKTEA is to promote best teaching practices, to nurture academic leaders who have the capability and commitment to enhance teaching and learning, and to foster a culture of recognizing good teaching in the UGC sector. The objective is achieved via 4 strategic areas:

To build the HKTEA brand name through signature activities benefitting a large number of members and teachers
To work hand-in-hand with the UGC to find synergies in promoting teaching excellence
To build capacity for sustainable impact by engaging a group of active members and committed teachers, and to enhance their interactions and professionalism
To embrace an evidence-based, self-reflective and pragmatic approach to planning future development
